Day Tripper: Hello, Hoboken!

   I love road trips.
From the long drives that take me out of the Garden State to the short ones that take me to relatively closer destinations that contain tiny treasure troves of boutiques, eateries and cupcakeries.
This Saturday, my boyfriend and I decided to drive the hour (more or less) to Hoboken, the "1-square-mile" city across from "The City."  Once we got there, it was boutiques, small shops, pubs and cute eateries galore.  Streets filled with brownstones.  Shoppers with their pretty paper bags.
We walked around the residential area first, where we parked, and then made our way to Washington St., which holds most of the shops and restaurants (albeit not all).  I loved the little stores and all their good finds! To say that I shopped would be understating it a bit.
My impression of Hoboken was that as small as it is, there's definitely a livelihood to this place.  A fun vibe you can feel in the air.  It's no New York, so if you're looking for another destination to replace an afternoon in Soho, I can't say that it would live up to the expectation, but it's definitely a sweet little place to spend an afternoon shopping, grabbing a bite to eat and then walking the brownstone lined streets for a few hours or walking down by the river.
The only con I can think of off the top of my head would definitely be the parking.  The signs can be misleading and the garages are expensive.  Our trip ended with a little piece of paper tacked to my window worth $68 so if you decide to go, be careful where you leave your car or you may end up like me!  Other than that, I can't think of another complaint...

just a welcome sign - there's something about these. i love taking pictures of these signs everywhere i go

a shot i took while in the car holding my man's hand. i thought my two-finger love ring added to the photo-op.  can you tell that i love rings?

when i know i'm going to be walking around for a while, i try my best to be comfortable without looking like a bum! my favorite fringe purse added something fun to this basic outfit. it's one of my favorite things from brandi melville

i love streets like this. so charming

we didn't go, but we kept seeing these signs on the sidewalks etched in chalk for a couple blocks. thought it was adorable

just a shot of the day-trippers. i love his sunglasses. i think i'll borrow them... maybe? if he lets me...

this was a mural located in a cute garden area off of a side street. i loved how the colors just popped against the cold slab of concrete brick

we ended our trip with a visit to this cupcakery. i'm an avid cupcake fan and so everywhere we go, i do my best to find a local cupcake shop. while it wasn't the best, i did enjoy the mocha cupcake quite a bit.

a mocha and chocolate coconut cupcake. a sweet (literally and figuratively) way to end a trip
